The Lions Telethon '81 airs January 31st to February 1st from Winnipeg Centennial Concert Hall on CKY TV with CBC joining Saturday night. Gloria Loring, Jim Perry, Blake Emmons and others perform as at least forty acts join hundreds of volunteers. Proceeds benefit the Lions Disability Fund for Children for hospitals equipment and workshops. last year $637,000 was raised.

March Land Use Conference Sets Manitoba Theme

Increases Announced in Canada Pension Plan Benefits
Ottawa announces a 9.9 percent CPP benefits increase effective January 1981. The plan covers over 1.2 million recipients with new maximums for retirement disability and survivors pensions, according to Revenue Canada. Maximums include 274.31 monthly retirement, 268.64 disability, 165.78 surviving spouse under 65, 164.59 over 65, 1470 lump sum death, with earnings ceiling rising to 14700 for 1981.
