Rural Municipality of Blanshard held its January 12 1988 meeting in Oak River with Reeve W Harvey English presiding. Debated were minutes, health board appointments, Mid-West Recreation District status, arena insurances, wages, indemnities and mileage allowances, ambulance grants, solicitor retention, and 1988 operating plans.
The Rural Municipality of Blanshard held its first special meeting on December 22, 1987. Mr. B Baldwin resigned after 20 years on the Hamiota District Health Centre board. Resolutions authorized reinvestment of Pettapiece Cemetery funds, creation of an Oak River Rink Building Fund, and acceptance of donations for the building fund. A stand on Manitoba Telephone System service was adopted and sent to attending municipalities. General pay list cheques totaling 6722.09 were approved. The council adjourned to January 12, 1988.
The Oak River United Church Congregational held its annual meeting on January 19 1988 with strong attendance. Bill Hutchings was elected chairman and Don Simms secretary. Reports show a busy year with eight funerals three weddings and eight baptisms.
