Leslie To Get Award ONGA For Horticulturist
Dr W Ro Russ Leslie of Morden Experimental Station will receive the Stevenson Memorial Gold Medal at a Manitoba Horticultural Association diamond jubilee convention in Winnipeg. He helped plan the International Peace Garden and contributed to the Game Branch bird conservation planting program. He has lectured across the United States and Canada and has led horticultural work for 34 years at Morden.

Edith McCloy aged 63 died January 13 in Didsbury after moving from Minnesota. She was born in Minnesota and moved to Didsbury 33 years ago. She belonged to St Cyprian’s Church and the Didsbury Red Cross Society, served as a past president, and was active in the IOIDe Mans Chapter. Survived by sisters Mrs. George Sewell of Kenora and Mrs. James Caithness of Didsbury. Services were conducted by Rev. E. R. Doyle.

J G Stewart Passes Pioneer of Hamiota District
The death of John Gilmour Stewart occurred Tuesday January 14 in Hamiota. A longtime resident since 1886 born May 23 1866 in Owen Sound Ontario he helped settle the area, served as reeve 1921 1927 and as school trustee and councillor. Survived by three sons in Vancouver and three daughters in Manitoba and beyond the community remembers his lifelong involvement. Funeral January 18 at Hamiota United Church with Rev K H Moffatt officiating. Interment in Hamiota Cemetery.
