Leaders Shape Problem Solving At Manitoba Teachers Meeting

Executive officers of the Manitoba Teachers Society met in Shoal Lake on January 9 with Howard J. Loewen guiding discussion. Leaders should state objectives and analyze problems to reach solutions, then apply techniques to help groups meet goals. Seventeen members from Beautiful Plains Pelly Trail Rolling River and Birdtail River Divisions attended.

Decker W I held its annual meeting on January 11 at Mrs. L Cochran home with 10 members present. Officers reported a successful year, $483.88 balance, and several Red Cross sewing and knitting items. A Department of Agriculture letter about a 12 week Seminar in Community Affairs in Hamiota was read.

McConnell Calf Club Plans March Variety Night

The McConnell 4H Calf Club held its fifth regular meeting on January 10. Members set March 31 for Variety Night with Smith's Orchestra providing music for the dance. Leaders handed out ticket books and conducted beef calf showmanship tests for juniors.

Hamiota UCW Meets Opens January Meeting

Mrs T Dillon opened the January 12 UCW meeting by reading a portion of the Declaration by the Canadian Inter faith Conference for the Centennial and Bible reading. Reports were given on 1966 work by the Secretary Treasurer Citizenship Leadership Development and Unit Secretaries.

Prayer Week marks Centennial observance at Hamiota chapel

From January 8 to 15 the Hamiota Gospel Chapel hosted Prayer Week with evening Bible talks on prayer by Rev W H Wilker Rivers Rev Gene Burgess Memphis Tenn Rev B F Linaker Rossburn and Rev Myers The theme urged reevaluating spiritual values and renewed dedication to presenting the gospel to nonbelievers.

Rebekah Lodge Install Officers In Freezing Weather

Grace Rebekah Lodge No. 35 installs officers on January 16 despite 30 below zero. Mrs. Kay Brooks orders the ceremony with Mrs. Ruby Mathison as deputy marshal. Elected officers include Noble Grand Shirley Dale and Vice Grand Louise Bilton. Appointed officers comprise RS N.G. Gladys Allan and others. Ruth McConnell named delegate to March Assembly Sessions. About 12 staff joined the event illustrating a great honor for the lodge.

Thimble Cookies Club Holds January Meeting

The Hamiota 4-H Thimble Cookies Club met on January 13 with O Canada the pledge and Motto. Members discussed a theme song a dessert party bake sale and speeches. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday February 10.

The Crandall United Church Women met at Mrs M Johnsons home with 22 members present. Officers and committee reports were given, budget approved, and plans made for sickness cards instead of flowers. The next meeting is February 10 at 2 p.m.

CGIT Girls Curling Match Ends In Close Split

CGIT girls and their mothers met on January 11 for curling. Mothers won one game, girls won the other, leaving players with sore muscles. Debbie and Linda Sunley were initiated in the United Church basement after games and lunch.
