Virden MLA Urges Decentralization to Balance Manitoba Growth
Virden MLA Morris McGregor urged decentralization in a Legislature Throne Speech debate. He warned that about half of Manitoba's population lives in Greater Winnipeg and rural areas lose professionals and industry. He called for policies to boost rural economies and attract doctors and other professionals to smaller centers.

James Fraser, Atikokan Native, Dies in Port Arthur
James Fraser of Atikokan Ontario died December 24 1966 at Port Arthur Hospital. Born 1884 in Aberdeen Shire Scotland he came to Manitoba in 1912 and served in World War I. Survived by wife Edith daughter Audrey two grandchildren and three sisters. Funeral December 27 interment Little Falls Cemetery Atikokan.
