Westman Winter Games adopt decentralized format for 1983
The 1983 Westman Winter Games will run in a decentralized setup with Minnedosa hosting February 18 to 20 for Badminton Cross Country Skiing Ladies Curling Masters Hockey (34 and over) and Coed Volleyball. Souris hosts March 11 to 13 for Ladies and Mens Basketball Coed Broomball Mens Curling Masters Hockey (30 and over) and Table Tennis. Registration deadlines February 4 and February 25 respectively.

Bookmobile Debut Delights Hamiota Community
The Parkland regional bookmobile arrived in Hamiota on Friday January 7 welcomed by Mayor John Rankin Reeve Ave Knight and the Hamiota Library Board. Ray Winters praised strong turnout and interest in the library service. A large print regular talking books and cassette player package was delivered to Heather Houck at the Hamiota District Health Centre. The bookmobile returns February 4 from 1130 to 230 for another visit.

The thirteenth edition of Manitoba Drug Standards and Therapeutics Formulary took effect January 1 1983. It guides pharmacists and prescribers on interchangeable drugs and requires substitution to the lowest price unless the prescriber writes no substitution. Twenty three drugs were added representing almost 5 percent of Manitoba prescription sales.
