Neepawa Fine Arts Festival Schedule and deadlines

The Neepawa and District Fine Arts Festival runs April 15 to 26 1975 with classes in choral vocal school choral violin pianoforte guitar instrumental ensembles brass and woodwind solos band rock and folk groups recorders piano accordion spoken poetry speech choirs drama square and folk dancing original film storytelling original poetry and poetry display. Adjudicators include Helga Anderson Joyce Wilkenson Jim Belford. Closing entries February 28 1975.

Rolling River Trustees to Attend Manitoba Convention

Six members of the Rolling River School Division will attend the Manitoba Association of School Trustees Annual Convention in Winnipeg March 6 to 8. Dr. John Ellis of Simon Fraser University will keynote on Educational Individuality The New Conformity, with Doris Anderson of Chatelaine as guest speaker Saturday night.

McConnell Woman's Institute Plans Community Events

The McConnell W I met at Mrs Mary Thompson's home February 11 with six members and one visitor. They approved an April 19 event at the McConnell Community Centre and a March 4 Maple Leaf quilt session at Mrs Olive Newton's. Marguerite Hedley spoke on meal service at the Hamiota Agricultural Fair. Nora McConnell won the monthly raffle.

Ladies Club Meeting Recaps Feb 19 at Mrs Pearl Kidd home

The Ladies Club met Feb 19 at 2 30 p m with seven members and one visitor. Pearl Kidd led Group 2 worship assisted by Mildred Hazlewood and Peggy Smith. Laura McLaen presided over business. Louise Andrew reported Hospital Aid and 1974 activities. Bernice Lewis gave Community Friendship notes. Janelle Houck presented Treasurer's report. Birthday wishes were offered to Mildred Hazlewood with a cake from the lunch committee. Hostesses were Peggy Smith and Pearl Kidd.

Safety Seminars to Boost Community Awareness in Area

Health Centre, in cooperation with agricultural representatives, launches a series of free public safety seminars across district municipalities. Based on 1974 farm injury statistics, topics cover tractors, machinery, falls, and recreational incidents, with sessions in each town to promote caution and learning.

Farm and Training Courses Offer Evening Welding Sessions

Agricultural representative Jim Hargreaves announces an acetylene welding course for evenings March 10 to 31 with the first ten applicants accepted. Interest calls to the Manitoba Agricultural Office at 7642767. A two day accounting course in Miniota March 13 and 14 is cancelled for now due to low interest and will be held where there is sufficient demand. A land lease option program ad appears in the paper and a meeting is set for March 2, 1975 at Rivers and HamOne.

Manitoba Seed Growers Meet March 6 7 in Winnipeg

Manitoba members of the Canadian Seed Growers Association will gather March 6 and 7 in Winnipeg for the annual provincial meeting at the Royal Inn. A Friday session features Dave Meltouch of Agriculture Canada Regina station with updates on new cereal grain varieties. Registration runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 6 at the Regina Inn Winnipeg.

Oak River Ladies Bonspiel Winners Named

The Oak River Ladies Bonspiel last week crowned event winners across four competitions. First Event winners received the B. Elliott MacDonald Trophy and silver trays, with D. Vietch and M. Braun also taking mirrors. Second Event winners include I Heavy and A Paddock, with Horner and Campbell noted for Tupperware and jelly molds. Third Event saw Robbins and Harris win, while Fourth Event honored H Westbrook and M Shamray among others. Oak River Ladies thank participants and donors.
