The 5th meeting of the 4H Beef Club was held February 11 at the elevator with 7 members present. Susan Wright chaired the meeting and discussed plans for a 4H curling event at Kenton, ticket sales, and possible tour locations. Members reviewed the 4H book and answered questions. Jack Boyd demonstrated lamp wiring and tools an electrician uses.
Hamiota Manitoba The local Men's Curling Club wrapped up its 80th Annual Open Bonspiel after six days of play. Grand Aggregate went to Bob Duke of Virden with his rink Bob Freese Don Andrews and Glen Campbell posting an 11 and 1 mark. Four rinks earned prizes while sixteen more filled the twenty four winners. Nine local club rinks claimed prizes.
The notice lists participants and winners for Gulf Service, Merchants, Houck Caldwell, Hamiota Co op, and Farmers events with top finishers including Bob Duke, Don Lee, Dennis Cochrane, Don Menzie, Ron Sangster, and Jim Steven. Club president Lynn Caldwell thanks the Executive and Bonspiel Committee, Draw Master Bill Thomson, Betty Thomson, and volunteers for meals and caretakers Ian Lobban, Doug Beamish, and Geo Robertson.
The 13th Annual Meeting of Birtle Presbyterial UCW at Newdale United Church featured Miss Beulah Bourns R N missionary from Korea, speaking on pre retirement furlough and social work. Reports noted regional events, charitable aims, and a successful 1974 Mission Fund total of 9190.46.

Mr. and Mrs. Emerson of Hillcrest Place Brandon marked their 60th wedding anniversary with a Come and Go tea for family and friends. They were married February 24 1915 at the Hamiota United Manse after long farming years in Hamiota district before moving to Brandon in 1973. They have five children, eighteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Congratulatory telegrams came from the Queen and government officials.
