Annual Band Meeting Held By Hamiota School Band

The Hamiota School Band held its annual meeting on February 6 in the Collegiate with officers named for the coming year including President Mrs Doreen Mennie and Secretary Mrs Karen Lyall. The senior band is smaller this year but the junior band shows promise. several members attended workshops at Deloraine and Brandon University with additional senior students at Brandon music school. The band plans more engagements this summer and will sponsor The Treble Queens from Steinbach under Mrs Shirley Penn.

Senior Citizens Meeting Held

HAMIOTA residents gathered February 12 for a Valentine themed senior citizens afternoon. Ten card tables, an hour and a half of activity, and 30 minutes of violin by Wesley Robertson with Don Pollock at the piano followed. Birthdays noted for Mrs. T. J. Strachan and Mr. Bert Decker. Hostesses Mabel Anderson Vivian Butler Eva Mundell Levena Kerr Hazel Blackner organized lunch and Valentine exchanges amid candy favors and group photos.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting Records February Session

Ten members attended the February 10 meeting led by Merle Strachan who was installed as president after Mary Bridgeman left the district. Grace Bulloch read the minutes. $5 to the Canadian Arthritis Society and a rose bowl to Mrs. Greenaway.

Oak River WI Plans 1975 Activities At February Meeting

The Oak River W I gathered February 6 at Mrs. Mc Neill’s home. Officers for 1975 were installed by Mrs. McNeill and President Mrs. C Burt. The group supported the Agricultural Society and Arthritis Society with a cash donation. Meals On Wheels served 14 meals, and welcoming efforts for 1975 were outlined. Hostesses celebrated February as the 54th birthday month.

Tossing Manes Hold Meeting Tossing Manes 4H Pony Club

Hamiota sixth meeting of the Tossing Manes 4H Pony Club was Feb 11 in the Agriculture building with fifteen members and one leader present. Members gave impromptu speeches and planned a future Bonspiel. A film is set for Feb 25 at 7 p.m. with Mr Dixon directing the Q&A.

Health Centre News from Hamiota District

A Seven Regions Health Centre group visited the Hamiota District Health Centre on January 31 for study sessions addressing health care delivery. February 5 featured Lorna Smith discussing diabetes and disability. February 6 Dr M Roberts led orthopedic peer review with staff, focusing on fracture care and sore backs.

Park Residence News Visits Across Towns

Dr Allyson and Mary Gunson and Jason of Deloraine called on their grandfather John Gunson last Sunday. Mrs Whyte and Mrs Steen of Pope visited on Friday afternoon. Rev McNeill of Oak River and Mr Harvey Hydman of Virden called on Mrs Bardwell this week.
