Children’s Aid Society Directors Report Highlights Caseloads
The Directors Report for December 1956 and January 1957 shows 1067 active cases at the start of 1957. Of these, 207 involve children in agency care, 181 are foster homes, 151 concern unmarried parents, 230 are family cases, and 273 pertain to adoptions. Incidental services total 26. The report also notes appreciation for Dr. William Forster’s weekly guidance on child development and behavior.

Tal ent Show Brings Crowd and Prizes Amid Community Events
A large crowd attended a Friday talent show on February 15 featuring 16 acts. Prizes went to Elaine McConnell, Helen Murray, and Shelly La Verne in the Children’s class, with adults’ entries including a Boys’ Trio led by Wayne Richardson. Proceeds totaled 53.95 for the organizing committee led by Nora McConnell and others. The issue also notes curling results at Oak River and Shoal Lake, local visits, and community activities from a Valentine Baby Band party to a Shorthorn meeting in London and a practice teaching stint at Winnipeg.
