Farm Account Books Offer New Cash Based Option
The Department of Agriculture promotes a new eight dollar farm account book with cash basis and monthly structure adding an audit friendly modified double entry system and customizable headings. It includes a tax strategy worksheet and livestock section, contrasting with the old prairie provinces book which is non cash based, non monthly, and more cumbersome. Farmers are urged to compare the two options and consider the new book for easier cash flow tracking and filing.疑

Pesticide and Fertilizer Rules Tighten in Manitoba Reforms
Agriculture Minister Bill Uruski announced revised regulations under the Pesticides and Fertilizers Control Act require commercial applicators to hold at least 250000 in liability insurance and add a 50000 bond to cover misuse. Fees for applying pesticides or fertilizer now require a written exam for licensing. Farmers who do custom work for others are limited to three producers and up to 500 hectares before licensing applies.
