Manitoba College Fees Rise 10.5 Percent to Start July
Education Minister Keith Cosens announced 10.5 percent increases in Manitoba community college fees effective July 1 1980. Two year diploma and one year certificate programs rise to 30 dollars per month from 27, totaling 300 dollars per academic year. Evening and part time courses go to 1.10 per instructional hour. The rise aims to offset inflation and adds about 175000 dollars annually, with Manitoba still competitive against other provinces.

Our holiday in Barbados
Manitou couple recount their Caribbean trip won through a Manitoba Journal Association draw. They flew Air Canada from Winnipeg to Barbados, staying at Maresol Beach Hotel, touring the island with a Massachusetts professor, dining on local specialties, and noting tourism as the island’s major industry. They recognized friendly service and recalled narrowly avoiding snowbound return.
