The Liberal convention in McConnell's hall nominated Ed Henry as the party candidate for the provincial election. Delegates from across the riding attended, and Henry, a prosperous Oak River farmer and early settler, received unanimous support after the discussion.
Hamiota defeated Shoal Lake 11 to 8 in an exhibition hockey game. Shoal Lake started with two quick goals but Hamiota surged ahead with six straight before halftime and held on as Shoal Lake pressed in the second half. McDonald of Shoal Lake officiated.
The Corsrittes of the World's Sunday School Association asks Manitoba’s Provincial Association for a statistical report from all schools. Many schools do not report, which prevents accurate measures of Sunday School strength. The appeal urges every school to respond promptly, with help from county secretaries or the general superintendent.
Remembered event to aid the Sunday School library is planned for Tuesday night the 15th inst. Proceeds will support the library. A birthday party honored Jeannie at Mrs. Anderson’s Friday. Mrs. Phillips and Gretts returned from three weeks in Winnipeg Brandon and Alexander. Reverend Shemilt of Miniota preached on Sunday. An earlier notice about dances was corrected with apologies for errors in last week’s column.

A fire swept through the Chomash school yesterday starting at the register where asbestos was chewed by mice. Students and the teacher battled the blaze, preventing major damage before officials arrived. The school reopened after repairs are finished.
A change in management at Wm. Chambers' store forms De Chambers Co. Limited with C Steele, Thos. Korn and Wm. Chambers as officers, signaling continued prosperity. Lorne Taylor takes over the harness business from F T Venables, bringing six years of service and a reputation for courtesy and efficiency.
The wedding of Pearl, daughter of Mrs Warrar, to R C Cochrane Reeve of Blanshard took place at the Warrar home on Tuesday Feb 1. Pearl wore white cashmere and satin with a white rose, given away by her brother John. The couple will reside at Alex Cochrane’s home pending Mrs A Cochrane’s return from the east. A seed grain fair was held in fall under the Agricultural Society with prizewinners listed and speeches on seed selection and soil cultivation. Mrs Parker is in Brandon hospital for an operation and expected to be away a few weeks.
Former resident Charles Greyson died at his daughter Ser J T Pearson of Virden on Friday January 2 9th. Friends in and around Hamma extend sympathy, as Mrs Pearson recently lost her mother. Greyson was a pioneer of Yorkton. Prince Rupert reports 4000 population. Town charter grants women voting rights. Water and sewerage systems are being installed.
