Interesting addresses at farmers meeting

A Grain Growers Association meeting was held in the Orange Hall last Thursday afternoon. Messrs Kennedy and Avison led the discussion on the government elevator question with Avison detailing the memorandum and Kennedy contrasting marketing grain under private systems with a government owned elevator proposal. The crowd was small but the session produced a motion to rescind prior unofficial actions and to issue a referendum on the issue.

Sunday School Box Social Moved To Tuesday In Arrowton

The Arrowton district shifts its box social from Sunday to Tuesday the 15th due to a Lith carnival in Hamiota and a Crandell hockey match on the 14th. A Friday night league match drew strong crowds as Rivers edged Hamiota 6–4 in a fast, contentious game. Hamiota protested after learning star Simpson traveled from Stratford Ontario to join Rivers for the contest.

Seed Grain Fair in Hamiota tops previous year

The Hamiota Agricultural Society held the Seed Grain Fair on February 20 with 42 entries across Red Fyfe wheat Preston wheat oats barley flax and potatoes. Prizes went to Glen Strathclair Riddell Arrowton Strathclair Crandell Oak River Pope and Kemp with top scores from 95 to 99 points. Exhibitors offered seed for sale totaling 3 800 bus Fyfe 1 100 Preston 4 250 oats 200 barley 20 flax and 110 potatoes, marking the event as the most successful yet and reflecting strong local farmer interest.

Government to start Hudson Bay Railway immediately

Hon G P Graham announces in the House of Commons that the Government plans to begin the Hudson Bay railway at once with Nelson as the harbor head. The line is projected to save a large quantity in the cost of transporting wheat, reducing expenses for prairie farmers and shipping interests.
