Annual Church Meeting Held at Isabella United Church
Isabella United Church held its annual meeting on Monday January 26 at 8 p.m. Rev Bob Kayes chaired with R E Heise as secretary. Reports were read and discussed. Resignations of A Norrie and David Wright were accepted. Lloyd Irwin John Wall elected to Finance Committee. Terms set for Wider Parish representatives and a plan to restructure congregational groups was approved. A follow up on Sunday worship time was announced.

Crandall Annual Church Meeting Highlights
Crandall held its annual church meeting in the church parlors with Rev. Bowins presiding and 19 in attendance. Reports showed a good year financially and in activity. a vote of thanks was given to Mr. C Lee for auditing books and to Mrs. G Hyndman for printing reports. Bowins reported three marriages eight baptisms and two funerals for the session with a list of stewards trustees and session members named.

A Lavinia shower in the Community Room Saturday evening welcomed 45 guests for the bride Garda Williams. Escort was Miss Bernice Gurr with mothers El len Milne and Maureen Milne assisting. Gifts were showcased by Marty Madsen, with a piano accordion performance by Dianne Nyk oliation. Anniversary Celebrated For Hanota Couple
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Harrison of Hanota celebrated their golden wedding with a tea attended by about 100 guests. Manitoba Name Plaque Marks Origins of Province
In a ceremony at The Narrows on Lake Manitoba the Historic Sites Advisory Board unveiled Manitoba’s first plaque detailing the origin of the province’s name. The dual event also opened The Narrows ferry as part of the observance. The plaque cites Cree Ojibway and Assiniboine roots and two leading theories, the Strait of the Spirit and water or lake interpretations.
