Chumah Ladies Club Meets for February Assembly

The Chumah Ladies Club gathered Friday afternoon February 6 at Mrs. Pearl Kidd's home with fourteen members and one visitor. The worship theme Great Devotional Hymns was led by Pearl Kidd, Mrs. M Kirk, and Mildred Hazlewood. Doris Pollock presented The Way of The Wind. President Janie Lewis led business. Valentine contest read. hostesses Doris Pollock and Pearl Kidd.

Oak River W I Celebrates 49th Birthday

Oak River Ontario February 5 meeting at Memorial Hall installed officers for 1970. Plans include raising funds for Upland Cemetery restoration a July 4 Pioneer Supper and a Bake Sale March 14. Members honored Miss M Nicolson and Life Member Mrs M White and recalled WI roots back to 1921 with thanks to charter member Mrs Isabel Bowman.

Oak River 4 H Club Plans Competitions and Events

The Oak River 4 H club met February 16 1970 with fifteen members and four leaders present. They will send a rink to the Miniota bonspiel on February 7 and schedule an achievement day for March 25 and a centennial dance on April 10. Four Unit A clothing girls gave one minute speeches before adjournment.

Scotia Ladies Club Meets in Centennial Year Theme

The Scotia Club met at Mrs H McKinnon’s home with 15 members. They planned an Easter Bake Sale in March, assigned grounds care to Mr Gordon White, pledged a donation to the Hamiota Agricultural Society for fair prizes, and noted the centennial cake with 100 candles prepared by Gerry Stein.
