Worst Canadian railway wreck near Webbwood claims many lives

The CPR express No.7 running from Montreal to Saulte Ste Marie derailed near Webbwood on a bridge over the Spanish River. Cars plunged into the river, with at least seventy five dead and about ninety seriously injured. some survivors report a horrifying scene as foreign passengers perished in fire and drowning.

More Members for West Provinces Gain in Population

A redistribution after next year’s census will grant about 17 new seats to three prairie provinces, with seven already allocated. The provinces have grown by 800000 since 1901, British Columbia up 125000, likely adding three seats. Marquette may gain two seats, replacing one.

They endorsed the Brandon Convention Elevator Committee plan for government ownership of elevators and urged relief for farmers in grain marketing. New subscribers boosted the treasury.
