Crandall hosts Birdtail River School Division No. 38 trustees as they approve minutes and resignations, hire Edith Parsons as Grade 1 at Birtle Elementary, grant leaves, adjust van routes, sign a teacher society agreement, and plan a Strathclair Collegiate expansion to a K-12 complex with a December 22 meeting adjournment.

W I Meet Hamiota Christmas gathering notes
The W I group met on Tuesday December 7 at Park Residence for a Christmas meeting attended by 50. Mrs Armstrong, the president, welcomed guests and quoted a line about a child's laughter. Treasurer reported 183.66 on hand and 10 cents per member to Lesotho project. Mrs Chappell led a sing song and contest, then lunch and social time.

Record Donors Clinic At Shoal Lake Sets Attendance
A record 437 people registered at the Red Cross Blood Donors Clinic held in the Ukrainian Hall, Shoal Lake, on December 8, 1971. Donors traveled by bus and car from Hamiota, Birtle, and Shoal Lake, with transport help aiding the clinic’s success.

Overseas Bound Sally Jean Robinson Joins Peace Garden Band
Sally Jean Robinson of HamIota is selected as one of 80 members of the International Peace Garden Band. The tour runs July 30 to August 1972, visiting Canada England Holland Belgium France Switzerland Italy and the USA. Robinson plays the clarinet and attends Hamilton Collegiate as a Grade X student. The trip costs 8.90 dollars plus spending money.

Five meetings held with average attendance of 10. Mrs Allan as Liaison Officer provided updates on hospital renovation plans. The group contributed to the Florence Nightingale Tea and regional meeting in May. The Ladies Aid Supper occurred June 18 at Chumah Hall. Pavilion use included Fair Day meals and Youth group and Butler Reunion. Donations supported Ambulance Fund Hospital fruit and jam Arthritis Society. Cards and flowers planned for former members and hospital doctors homes.

Meet the Huskies new goalie Keith Jones joins Hamiota
Keith Jones from Craik Sask joins Hamiota Huskies as goalkeeper after starring for Craik Warriors in the No 11 Intermediate Highway Hockey League. He earned the leagues Vezina trophy for fewest goals allowed and a 2.91 GAA, plus All Star starting goalie honors. At 22 he is married and works as an accountant for Hamiota Co op Ltd.
