Manitoba to Require Room To Clear Intersections

Manitoba will implement new traffic act amendments effective December 20 requiring drivers at green lights to ensure space is available beyond the intersection before crossing. Changes include stricter railway crossing rules for hired vehicles and buses, revised no passing near pedestrian crossings, age limits for certain farm vehicle operators, farm truck use limits, and higher penalties for reporting and injury cases.

H4miota 4H Club Plans Variety Sale and Prize Raffle

During the last meeting the H4miota 4H Club voted to host a Variety Sale with a raffle. The prize is twenty five dollars.

Local Huskies Name Harvey Pollock as Coach

Hamiota announces Harvey Pollock will coach the Huskies after players pressed for his appointment. He earns respect from associates and coaches, with early lineups featuring veterans and newcomers. Schedule includes home games beginning December 12 with Shoal Lake, 7 30 p.m.

Birdtail River School Board Minutes From December 2 1971 Meeting

The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 held a regular board meeting at Crandall on December 2 1971 at 8 00 p m. Trustees present list includes Wadell Butcher Armitage Hames Fulton Randell Lewycky Hyndman and Falloon with electees Clark and Mulake. Motions approved include minutes adoption November 18 1971 correspondence filing and various agenda items and tenders. final payment for Birtle Collegiate and resignations and fuel tender accepted. Adjournment 11 45 p m.

Explorers Meet Oak River for Christmas Party

The meeting opened with opening ceremonies roll call and one visitor present. Minutes of last meeting and the treasurer's report were read. Our next meeting will be Monday for the Christmas Party. Worship was said. We sang Away in the Manger and closed.

Mr and Mrs Walker of Oakner called on Mrs Catto last week. Sympathy sent to Mr Gunson. Miss Gayle Liddle of Winnipeg spent weekend with grandmother Mrs Collie. Mrs Collie visited granddaughter Mrs Harper at Minnedosa.

McConnell 4H Calf Club Holds November Meet

The 4H Calf Club met November 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Centre with 14 members and 3 leaders. Green record sheets were completed, a beef prize raffle was announced, and Carol Parker became a Junior Leader. The annual banquet occurred November 27 at 6:39 p.m. with speakers from the McConnell Pool Elevator Assn and the McConnell Fat Stock Show, plus slides from Scott and Robertson about a trip to Columbia with the Canadian baseball team. Gifts were given to Elaine McConnell and Darryl Boyd on their departure, and thanks were offered to Bruce Paterson for his years as leader.
