Hamiota Collegiate Christmas Production Next Week
Hamiota Collegiate students prepare for the annual Christmas Program on December 15 and 16. The play The Prince Who Would Not Talk features Colleen Bell, Dale Little, Mark Robinson, Sharla Gurr, Trina Mathison, Cynthia Brown, Melodie Smith, and Kirby Lazaras. The 75 minute show starts at 7:00 p.m. with a large chorus of about fifty.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting Recounts Curling Event and Officers
The Legion Auxiliary collected well wishes with four get well cards a birthday card and a baby card. Curlers Maxine Shamray Dorothy Ramsey Merle Strachan and Merilyn Ratcliff competed at Erickson in the Zone Bonspiel. An officer slate was approved with Maxine Shamray as president. The group adjourned to join the men for cards and a pot luck lunch to support the new rink Building Fund. Tickets sell by members using a donated doll cradle and high chair by Bob Brown Rivers. The next meeting is January 7th.

Shady-Lane Farm owners Bob Arlene and Jeff Ross earned top honors at the 1987 Royal Winter Horse Show. Hometown Hero won 15.2 hands under wagon and bike classes and claimed the Royal York Hotel Roadster Canadian Championship Stake and the Canadian Champion Roadster title. Stablemate Fridays Song placed fifth in a 15.2 hands and over wagon class. Stay n Touch junior titles as a 1986 colt and Reserve Grand Champion Stallion. Finders Keepers ran third in Hackney Pony yearling. The Rosses bred and raised the two yearling colts.

The Hamiota Oak River Lioness Club staged a Hobby Mart on November 28 1987. About 320 people attended with 23 tables of crafts baking and goods. Door prizes included three dailies a Christmas centerpiece and candle holders won by Mary Griffiths and Afghan donated by Kathy Naslund won by Glen McFaddin.
