New Legion opens in Mafeking in grand Oct 24 ceremony

A crowd of over 200 attended the Mafeking opening banquet and dance as Legion Branch Number 93 president Gary Lowe cut the ribbon for the new Royal Canadian Legion Hall on Oct 24. Residents praised the project, noting the building will serve the community for years. Elsewhere in Lake Country, local efforts include a Skate for Fun program, a planned Killarney food bank, and a town recycling initiative. A Neepawa four suite apartment building, boarded for winter, burned in a blaze attributed to internal construction factors.
