Area stores hit by crime wave
RCMP detachments investigate a rash of break and enters in the area last week. Twin Valley Co-op in Minsota reported 70 cartons of cigarettes and 30 tins of chewing tobacco stolen around 1:00 a.m., valued about 4500 dollars. Other robberies followed at Co op Food Store Newdale and Elliot's Food Store Strathclair with cigarettes and minor cash taken. No suspects yet. vehicle details noted. Winter Carnival brings fun and fund raising to Hamiota
The Hamiota and District Sports Complex hosted the annual Winter Carnival on Saturday. A crowd enjoyed a costumes parade with 73 skaters, plank races, and tricycle heats on slick ice. The Hamiota Kinsmen won the plank race trophy for the second year running. Junior winners included Paula Graham and teammates in various grade divisions, with young curlers also competing in a Turkey Shoot on the ice.
