Glen Bailey son of Mr and Mrs Harry Bailey has completed the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Physical Education at the University of Alberta Edmonton. He graduated from Hamilton Collegiate and earned a Bachelor of Physical Education at the University of Manitoba Winnipeg. He obtained his Masters degree in 1972 at the University of Alberta.

Women's Events Fill Birtle Presbytery Meeting
Birstle presbytery U C W held two fall sessions in Binscarth and Oak River during the first week of November with 100 plus attendees. The sessions featured a Stewardship panel, reports from delegates to Kenora, and speakers Rev Les Jay Gail from Crystal City and Rev Gaston Vinlard of Glenboro. Morning and afternoon singing was led by Mrs Jack Widdicombe and a book sale raised 143.18.

Shuffleboard Club Enlivens Hamiota Community Center
The Hamiota Shuffleboard Club began a lively winter season in November with about one hundred players. New teams form monthly and anyone may join Mondays at the Community Centre to watch or try the game for fun. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion met November 25 in the community room at 8 p.m. Reports were read for Secretary and Treasurer. Mr Matthews received a birthday gift. a new wreath is planned for next year. Christmas party set for December 16. Petty fund won by Mrs. Jean Tweed. The meeting closed with The Queen song and a social lunch.

The Tossing Manes held their second meeting Tuesday in the Ag. Rep. Office. The Horse Manual was distributed. A Christmas Party is planned December 13 at Barbie McConnell's, followed by the December meeting. A grooming film was shown.
