Hamiota Play School Registers 24 Children for Fall Sessions

Hamiota Co operative Play School held registration day on November 4 with 24 children registered. Officers elected include President Sharon Galatiuk and Vice Val McLennan. Four and three year olds will attend on Tue Fri sessions with respective supervisors. Donations from local businesses noted. A December 5 general meeting planned to discuss a Christmas party with Santa.

Ladies' Club December Meeting in Chumah

The December Ladies' Club meeting at Vi Smith's home had 21 members. Louise Andrew led worship with the Christmas Story, assisted by Myra Preston and Bernice Lewis, followed by carols, a Jane Dale poem, and a closing prayer. Officers were nominated for several posts and a social lunch concluded the event.

Manitoba towns to gain Direct Distance Dialing

Three southwestern Manitoba communities Hamiota Kenton and Oak River will receive Direct Distance Dialing on December 11 The cutover marks the second phase bringing DDD to about 70 communities with a new electronic long distance switching machine in Brandon The roll out will expand access to most of North America and over time more than 90 percent of Manitoba telephones will have DDD access through SP-1 switching equipment locally introduced in Brandon in October 2010

Hamiota W I celebrates 65th anniversary gathering

About 57 members and visitors met December 2 at the Community Centre for the Hamiota W I 65th anniversary. Attendees came from Decker Isabella McConnell Crandall Cardale Oak River with decorations, songs, poems, and a cake from a local bakery. The event featured greetings from district and local presidents, a history talk, duets, readings, and a lunch to conclude.

UCW Members Hold December Meeting At Bates Home

The UCW met December 4 at Mrs. Frank Bates's home with 15 members and 7 visitors. A Christmas program was presented by Mrs. H Anderson and Mrs. N Argue. Officers for 1976 were elected and a plan to keep allocations at 175 was approved. A social hour with gifts and lunch followed. The January meeting is set for January 8 at Mrs. I Routledge's home.
