KAP Opposes Changes to Drug Patents Act

The Keystone Agricultural Producers oppose amendments to the Drug Patents Act that would extend patent protections for new brand name drugs from 10 to 17 years. Women from Newdale Attend Manitoba Farm Conference

Eleven women from Newdale attended the Manitoba Farm Women's Conference in Portage la Prairie on November 12 and 13. They joined sessions on farm family law, management, grain marketing, farming alone, farm organizations, health, farm chemicals, stress, and safety with ministers and Wheat Board officials. The event offered discussions, panels, and exchanges aimed at improving the rural lifestyle and sharing solutions.

103rd Birthday Celebrated for Mrs Catherine Gourlay

Mrs Catherine Gourlay of Oak River Manitoba marked her 103rd birthday on a Sunday at Hamiota hospital after a fall at home on November 12. She underwent hip replacement surgery and received a new steel joint as relatives from Oak River Swan River Canora Yorkton Snow Lake and other communities visited to wish her well.

Karen Kidd Promotes Nicaragua Visit Public Talk

Karen Kidd a professional clown for children's TV and Winnipeg health facilities joined a 19 member Canadian delegation to Nicaragua for two weeks in September sponsored by Witness for Peace. Seniors sponsor arthritis workshop in Hamiota

Hamiota Seniors Council Inc in cooperation with Hamiota District Health Centre sponsored an arthritis workshop at Hamiota Community Centre on November 28. Over seventy persons attended a film and a verbal presentation by Marilyn McGregor, Physiotherapist.

On November 23rd a miscellaneous shower was held at the Leisure Inn in Newdale for Brenda Usick a bride elect of December 6th Relatives and friends attended and gifts came from the Newdale and Strathclair communities Brenda thanked guests and invited them to the wedding dance followed by lunch

McConnell 4 H Beef Club Awards Night Sat Nov 22 1986

The McConnell 4 H Beef Club held an awards night at the McConnell Community Center with speeches by Jack Boyd Dale Little Ryan Murray Carla Bridge and Keith Bridge. Certificates were given for years of leadership to Garth Short Jack Boyd Margaret Boyd Keith Bridge Carla Bridge Desmond Little. Carla Bridge won the Senior Record Book award Dale Little the Junior Record Book award Jason Bridge the Scrap Book award with Dale Murray as runner up. A humorous skit and slides of a United Nations trip were shown before lunch and social time concluded the evening.
