Tourism minister Laurent Desjardins announced seven one year appointments to the Manitoba Advisory Council on Fitness and Amateur Sport. New members include Michael R. Geravelis The Pas Indian Band director Angus McLean and Allan J. Simpson Winnipeg Wheel Chair Sports chief Vince Leach Winnipeg Tribune writer Curly Haas sporting goods proprietor Ste. Anne physician Dr R E Lafreniere Transcona recreation chief R W Todd and reappointed chair David Anderson with Dr David Downie as vice chair. The council was reactivated in 1971 to shape recreation polices and guide province wide development.

Tourism Grants Promote Manitoba Tourism Effort
Tourism, Recreation and Cultural Affairs announced grants totaling 41 000 to the Tourist and Convention Association of Manitoba Inc and four regional branches Pembina Central Plains WestMan and Interlake. The 35 000 largest grant supports the Winnipeg Convention Centre marketing role with provincial tourism promotion.

The Manitoba Feed Grain Marketing Commission announces higher minimum prices for barley and mixed grains at 88 cents per bushel, effective September 1, up eight cents. Wheat and oats minimums stay at 1.26 dollars and 50 cents per bushel respectively.

European Tour Band and Choir Conclude Successful Journey
The International Music Camp 1972 European Tour Band and Choir wrap up after thrilling performances in Milan, Florence, and Siena with stops in Rome and Assisi. Adria Easton led baton routines. 140 musicians and staff faced alpine passes, rain, and crowded historic venues, earning enthusiastic receptions at the Uffizi and other landmarks. The trip ends August 23 in Rome with further concerts in Winnipeg and Brandon before a final Governor’s Concert in Bismarck.

The final service at McConnell United Church was held on August 20 with a trio from the charge attending. A small choir led the anthem with Mrs. K Bridge at the organ as Rev. D. Aikman delivered the sermon. Trustees H Pangman and Robi. Riddell reported all matters settled and notified Birtle Presbyterial, and the gathering recalled a closing verse about remaining joined in heart until they meet again.
