Lavinia School Cairn Dedicated in Lavinia Manitoba
On Saturday July 12 1986 the Lavinia Memorial dedicated to all who attended Lavinia Schools drew 110 people despite cool showers. Keith Dixon donated land and stone as chair, with greetings from local officials and former students. The ceremony recalled the school’s 1885 beginnings and the era ending in 1960 when students were bused to Hamiota. A pot luck supper followed under a shed, with a replica cake cut by Lorne Shayman and Darryl Boyd.
