A Dream Come True For Deryck Desrochers Van Gift
Tears of joy greeted Deryck Desrochers as he was lifted into a newly donated 1983 Ford van with an electric lift. The Friends of Deryck Committee raised funds in 30 months with help from Harmony Music Makers Lef ty Hendrickson Canadian Motors Gary Donagh Tim Clegg and The Echo.

About sixty people gathered at Chumah Hall on August 23 1986 to honour Karen Briggs bride elect of September 27. Guests included Karen Muriel Sheri and Michelle. Music by Melanie Kirk and singing by Michelle Sheane Chris Brown Barb Brown. A wagon of stuffed animals and gifts arrived, then Karen thanked everyone before lunch.

Helen Island Tour an Enjoyable Hecla Island Outing
On August 20 McPhail's Travel and Rawlings Allied organized an overnight trip to Hecla Island for about 40 local residents. The group toured Icelandic Village with plaques describing Icelanders and viewed Gull Harbour lodge facilities. The return included a Paddle Queen cruise in Gimli and a meal at Fort Garry Hotel with stops at Wasagaming Edndstone Eriksdale St Rose and Winnipeg sights.
