Man Plan program to receive 250000 funding in Manitoba

Manitoba sport minister announces 250000 from lottery revenues will fund the Man Plan for 1986 87 aiding athletes coaches and officials. In 1985 86 the program assisted 485 recipients including 408 athletes 40 coaches and 37 officials across 66 sport associations with grants up to 1000.

The plan argues that a two year BEd for degree holders in arts or sciences is not enough for teaching. It calls for comprehensive training covering teaching methods and leadership roles including teachers and superintendents before changes are adopted.

Stop for School Bus signs expand provincewide

Winnipeg New signs will be posted across Manitoba to warn drivers to stop when school bus signals flash. Highways minister John Plohman says the blue signs with children exiting a bus are more visible and educational, promising greater compliance with the Stop for School Bus law. Thirty signs will be installed before the year begins and thirty one more next year.
