On July 24 1996 forty eight descendants of John and Lily Cumming gathered at the Hamiota Fairgrounds in the Lenore Kenton district for a family get together. Attendees included Russell and Hazel Cumming of Hamiota with their children Maxine Cam Brown and Brock Michelle and their daughters Holly and McKenna from Winnipeg Lauree and Charlie Clifford of Portage Gail and Brian Parker of Carman granddaughters Kathy Brooks and her children Karlee and Taylor Karma Hawkins and daughters Jenna and Jillian of Hamiota. Missing were Carol and Garry Kidd of Hamiota grandchildren Martin Brown Marnie Parker Brian Foreman Winnipeg Kellee Clifford Portage Warren Brooks and Doug Hawkins of Hamiota. Other family members included Margaret and Don Young of Rivers with Bob Rhonda and family Travis Jolene Becky and Brett of Souris Judy Ken Burnett Calli and Kelsi of Calgary Lillian Lowe Kerry and Teresa with Becky Pamela Lacey and Ian of Bradwardine Jean with Brent Donna Krista Haley and Jarrett of Hamiota Dale Susan Hannah Grace Alexander Laughlin of Deloraine Shauna Parrish Tyler and Lily of Florida Shaunas husband Rick absent. Cousin Allan and Maxine Cumming attended. The gathering featured a pot luck and pleasant weather.
The Rural Municipality of Woodworth council in Kenton on August 19 1996 gave first reading to By Law 8 96 authorizing a Materials Recovery Facility project and borrowing to fund it The by law is before the Municipal Board of Manitoba for approval and a copy is available at the clerk’s office Objections must be filed within fifteen days with the clerk at Kenton MB 1996.
