Farmer Wins Award At Canadian Seed Growers Convention
J Stan Henry of Oak River received the Robertson Associate honor from the Canadian Seed Growers Association at the CSGA annual convention in Lethbridge on July 9 10. Born near Oak River he still farms with his son and began seed work early organizing a junior seed growers club in 1930. He entered full seed production in 1949, became a select seed grower in 1964, focusing on wheat rapeseed barley and flax.

Henry Family Held Reunion at Oak River Memorial Arena
A Henry family reunion for descendants of John and Jennet Henry and William and Mary Henry drew about 300 descendants to Oak River’s Memorial Arena on July 18 19 1981. The gathering showcased a family tree with ~1000 names, honored elders and youngest descendants, and featured medallion presentations, musical numbers, a dress revue, a church service, and a tour of ancestral homesteads. Attendees traveled from Vernon Delta and Coquitlam in British Columbia and other areas to join the celebration.
