Plan Staked for Hamiota Sports Complex Rink Location

Municipal planners report on April 27 public meeting decisions to start phase one construction this fall if $600,000 fundraising succeeds and to locate the rink on the abandoned CP line north of the fairgrounds. Geotech tests show moisture risk. plans consider two layouts Plan A west entrance and Plan B east with trees buffers. Community input continues as grants and land acquisition face delays.

Final Autopac payment due under time plan

Motorists renewing 1988 Autopac insurance on or before March 1 must pay the final installment by Monday August 29. Those who bought after March 1 owe the third installment within 180 days of renewal. A $20 late fee applies for late payments and nonpayment may suspend registration and coverage.

Shower Honors Sheila Thompson at Community Centre

About one hundred friends and neighbors signed the guestbook at a shower held Tuesday August 9 1988 in the community centre for Sheila Thompson. Mrs Agnes Bridge played piano background music and gifts were presented in a pink flower decorated wagon.

Mary MacDonald Honoured at Kenton Surprise Party

A surprise tea marked Mary MacDonald’s event at Kenton Community Hall on Sunday August 7 with seventy guests traveling from Manitoba towns and Saskatchewan cities. Relatives and friends from Kenton, Steinbach, Esterhazy and Gypsumville gathered for a cold plate supper while relatives read a poem Mary composed for her mother.
