Manitoba Derby Second Prize Goes To Neepawa Woman

In Winnipeg at Assiniboia Downs the Manitoba Derby winner was Ontario with first prize of 100000 dollars, while Evelyn Turner of Neepawa received 20000 dollars as second prize for matching with Laissez-Passer. Karen Kaminski of 231 Scotia St. earned 10000 dollars with Le Gaspesian as third prize.

Manitoba to insure forage crops under crop program

Agriculture Minister Sam Askiw announced that cultivated forage crops grown for hay will join the Manitoba crop insurance program in 1977. The deadline to take out insurance for the 1976 crop is September 15, 1976. A provincial rollout follows two years of test-area coverage, with nine contracts per agency under the test plan.

Grace Morris Celebrates 80th Birthday in Hamiota

Grace Morris of Park Residence celebrated her 80th birthday at the North Hill Motel in Brandon with twenty relatives. Her granddaughter Bernice McDonald presented a pink carnation corsage and a twelve charm bracelet. A telegram from Winnipeg was read and a birthday cake ended the evening.
