Manitoba to Host World Rehab Meet in 1980

Winnipeg to host the 14th World Congress on Rehabilitations in 1980 after a successful bid by the Canadian Rehabilitation Council for the Disabled. About 4,000 delegates are expected June 23 to 28 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre with funding from city province and federal government to cover a $9,000 anticipated deficit.

Safety Hints for Cyclists Under Highway Act Changes

The 1974 Highway Traffic Act updates require cyclists to ride as close as possible to the right edge and in single file except when passing. Cyclists may carry an infant on a designed seat if the rider is over 16, the infant is under six, the seat has a protective shield, and a seat belt is fastened in motion. Cyclists have the same rights and duties as motor vehicle drivers and must follow signs and officer directions.

Manitoba Farmers to Voice Views on Livestock Marketing

Manitoba farmers in four rural areas will discuss the livestock marketing report issued last March and offer recommendations at introductory meetings July 29 August 5 and 10. The 16 member joint committee will conduct the meetings to aid minister Sam Askiw and a split in two sections will cover Boisser and Eddystone dates.

Beefs committee to review marketing with producer vote

The Weather other half committee led by Darwin Chase visits Vita on July 29 and Inwood on August 10 to ensure producers’ views are considered before government action on the inquiry report. Producer members will have voting rights on final recommendations. Members include Mayer, Trinder, Vatcher, Hall, McDonald, Ross, Voth, Nicholson, Keyes, Loeb, and others. Department of Agriculture to cover expenses and provide secretarial support. Next meeting with the minister July 28.
