From Kitchen Table Invention To Cottage Industry Trekker

Judy Pettersen’s high needs baby inspired the Baby Trekker, a wearable carrier she designed at home after complaints about existing slings. She turned a kitchen-table project into a growing business, securing a patent, sourcing materials, and selling to Canada, the U.S., Japan, and Australia. The Trekker remains a cottage industry venture as plans include bulk sales via distributors and mail catalogs. Mary Ann, once carried in the Trekker, now ages seven and spends winter Sundays riding in it as Clarence skis.
