Village of Hamiota Sees Overall Tax Reassessment Change
The reassessment by the Provincial Assessment Branch lowers overall village property value by 0.76 percent while the province rises 16 percent. Residential taxes rise about 3.5 percent on new assessments, older homes up 10 to 20 percent, commercial taxes up 1.6 percent on average. A homeowner with 1000 in taxes would pay 1035 if the assessment stayed the same. a 2000 business would pay 2032. The village ends with a balanced budget and no tax increase.
