Hamiota 70th Fair Sets Records and Highlights
About 3000 attend the Hamiota Fair and Sports Day on Wednesday July 25 as the event opens by Premier Duff Roblin. A new Display Building fills to capacity while champions in cattle sheep poultry and garden displays are named. Major horse and pony events set records with Bruce Parker Jack Morcum and Clarence Martin among top winners. The fair also features a six horse hitch and a strong slate of bake canning and craft prizes and concludes with local league wins in softball and baseball tournaments.

M F A Family Camp Sets August Event at Clear Lake
The Manitoba Federation of Agriculture hosts its Annual Family Camp and Picnic at Clear Lake on August 25. Activities include discussion groups, sports, boating, water skiing, and swimming for all. The Saturday Co op picnic begins at 2 30 with children races, then a concert and dance. A new cabin will be opened by Souris Agri-Business Association with funding from local co-ops and a talent show. Contact Bob Douglas for meals and lodging, committee members listed.

About sixty members of the Butler connection gathered at the Hamiota Agricultural Grounds on Sunday July 29 for their annual reunion. The oldest was Mr. George Bull and the youngest Dougie Asselstine, 6 weeks old, son of Allan and Mrs. Asselstine. After noon sports and socializing followed, with officers elected for the next year and several towns represented including Forrest, Hamiota, Souris, Minnedosa, Oak River, Brandon, McConnell, and Erickson.
