At a special meeting on April 14 1975 Hamiota Village Council approved and sent the 1975 Budget to the Department of Municipal Affairs The levy changes include Birdt s River School 7 7 mills rise and Foundation levy slight drop The general tax up 7 4 mills 15 5 percent and total resident boost 15 1 mills Commercial 12 5 mills Business tax cut from 10 to 8 Percent Major 1975 increases planned for Public Works Sidewalks and machine replacement Budget totals through departments and sewer water figures with operating surplus carried forward and several council items and notices recorded.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting in Oak River
The Oak River Legion Auxiliary met April 14 with 10 members. President Merle Strachan opened the session as Warden Gladys Johnson advanced the colors. The secretary read minutes and correspondence including a Salvation Army letter. They plan May canvassing and a lunch sale at Don Brismans Sale on April 26 at the fair grounds rink, with Betty White Gladys Johnson and Nora Knight providing lunch. Gordon Bullock won the cash door prize.

Isabella Women’s Institute Holds Meeting and Plans Smorgasbord
The Isabella Women's Institute met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Still with Mrs. A. Heise presiding. A Norrie gave a talk on Lucuvy Maude Montgomery while the group discussed the Garrison Dam project and supported a resolution against further dam building. The institute announced a Spring Smorgasbord for April 26 at 6 pm and planned a Cathedral Coverlet project for a quilt with members making cushion tops.

Daylight Saving Time Begins April 27 in Manitoba
The province switches to daylight saving time the night of April 26 27 with clocks moved from 2 to 3 a.m. under the Official Time Act. Uniform daylight saving time runs six months from the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October.

UCW Meeting Recaps Activities and Plans
The UCW met about the 15th with 16 in attendance. The Scotia-Chu mah group led the actorship on Teach Us To Live. Members included Mesdames Steen Taylor Amy McLean and the choir. Plans discussed include UCW sale and summer meetings at 8 p.m. A financial report showed $123.48 on hand and several thank you letters were read.
