50th Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed in Victoria
A Come and Go tea marked the Golden Wedding celebration for Ralph and Peggy Frazer, longtime Hamiota residents, hosted by Don and Molly Black in Victoria on March 25, 1975. Peggy Frazer, born Margaret Roberts in Scotland, and Ralph Frazer married March 25, 1925, and lived on farms near Hamiota before retiring to Victoria.

Women's Institute Meeting Notes Hamiota Activities
The Women's Institute in Hamiota met in the community room on the first Tuesday at 2 30 p.m. with an average attendance of 17. New officers were elected including President Art Morris and Vice President Everett Strong. The meeting covered Red Cross, Home Ec, Health, United Nations, Citizenship and Education, Agriculture and Industry, and cultural activities. The institute plans book drives for Winnipeg's Book Market, a April 15 book mailing, and a Phentex placemat demonstration, with delegates nominated for the district convention on April 21. the latest Red Cross sewing totals were 580 items, 16 afghans, 18 sweaters, and 1 quilt.

Hamiota UCW Holds Spring Meeting and Plans Spoon Sale
A general meeting of Hamiota United Church Women on April 10 in Chu mah Hall with 12 members present heard a spring planting theme and health tips. The group approved an 8000 BTU air conditioner for the kitchen, noted unit catering activity, named Mrs. Carlyle Johnston social convener replacement, ordered 50th anniversary spoons, and announced a thrift sale of summer clothing at end of April.

Old Time Dancedraws Crowd to Hamiota Lodge Event
Grace Rebekah Lodge No. 35 held its annual Old Time Dance on April 11 at the Elementary School. A large crowd from Brandon Minnedosa Russell McAuley Hargrave and Saskatoon area attended. Prizes included door prize to Wesley Robertson and other category winners. Arnold Gray oversaw floor management. Harmony Music Makers provided the music and lunch was served to all.

He warned Canada’s grain exports are hurt by strikes and delays and warned of the EEC’s four billion dollar annual agricultural subsidies making Canadian producers uncompetitive.
