Canola profitability boosts expected acreage gain says expert
Canola Council of Canada Crop Production Committee member Nick Underwood says 1989/90 canola acreage will likely be around 6.5 million acres, down about 10 percent from last year and near 1985–87 levels. He cites favorable prices, improved soil moisture, and margins above costs versus wheat, with 1989/90 seed carryout seen near 600,000 tonnes.
