Manitoba Rural Water Grants Rise Under Jobs Fund
Premier Howard Pawley announced a 1.5 million boost to the Jobs Fund, increasing rural water and sewer grants for up to 18 Manitoba communities in 1983-84. The addition joins 3 million from Agriculture, creating about 750 construction jobs and expanding southern Manitoba grants to 4.5 million.

Oak River Ladies Auxiliary met with 11 members present on April 7. They sent get well and baby cards and donated 25 dollars each to Peace Gardens dorm and a June bicycle rodeo. A donation was sent to the Arthritis Society. Supper will be served to the Lion's Club on April 18. A letter to Zone Commander Muriel McManus requests best meeting time. Personal Care Home Charge Rises in Manitoba
Health Minister Larry Desjardins announced a 20 cent daily increase in the residential charge for personal care homes from 12.35 to 12.55 effective May 1, 1983. The rise applies to all provincial residents and hospital patients panelled for admission to personal care homes, tied to cost increases in insured care.

Brandon hosts a Scout Show on April 23 1983 at the Keystone Centre curling rink from 1 to 4 pm to celebrate Scouting's 75th anniversary. 40th Anniversary Celebrated for John and Ruby Mathison
On Saturday April 2 1983 in Hamiota over 280 friends and relatives joined John and Ruby Mathison for their 40th wedding anniversary. A family dinner served twenty people Friday evening a Come and Go Tea Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. Dancing 9 to 1 with The Harmony Music Makers. Old acquaintances renewed everyone enjoyed a good visit.

Co-op Implements Forms Member Committee At Annual Meeting
At the Birtle depot arena annual meeting a committee was formed to represent Co op Implements area members and relay concerns to the company.
