Federal measures boost farm aid in 1990 plan
Ottawa unveils a $1 billion income support package for farmers to bridge drought and low prices, with $450 million to grains and oilseeds and $50 million for other commodities. Provinces are urged to match funds, targeting regional needs and spring cash flow. The plan also expands Farm Debt Review Fund access and offers lease extensions with equity payments, while the Prairie Grain Advance Payments Act aims to spur creditor-backed operating credit.
