Hazardous Materials Training for Firemen in Manitoba
Labor Minister Ken MacMaster announced six Hazardous Materials training sessions under the Manitoba Fire College. He cited the MacGregor derailment and chemical spill and noted a 35 percent budget increase for the Fire Commissioner’s Office, adding five staff including inspectors and training officers. The Brandon campus will continue the Fire College, with four year courses extended to Gimli and a planned regional school in Thompson. Seminars on metric terminology will run in mutual aid districts, and Manitoba maintains five full time fire departments with volunteers offering support.
