Sioux Valley Handicrafts Inc Formed By Sioux Valley Indians
Sioux Valley Indians form a new company to wholesale handicraft items produced by members of the Sioux Indian Reserve in Western Manitoba. The firm Sioux Valley Handicrafts Inc will operate separately from Brandon shop and receive起 initial funding from Manitoba Department of Industry and Commerce and Department of Indian Affairs. An advisory board includes representatives from these agencies and private business. Harold Wellman named General Manager and Art Wambidee as Chairman with Cordelia Wasteste Secretary. Other board members are John Johnson Peter Whitecloud and John Sioux. The company aims at resort and tourist outlets across the province and will showcase items at a local trade fair and attend a major gift show in Toronto. The enterprise is a pilot project in business development.

Motions approved minutes March 12 70 and grants for the Fine Arts Festival 500, sale of Newdale Consolidated School for 1.00, correspondence received, congratulations to Birtle staff and students, fire equipment at Selsgirth, resignation of Howard Baldrow, bank building purchase option, sale by tender of teacherages, adjournment to April 9 1970.
