Oak Rivers hockey team led by coach Bob Ramsey and manager Ted Coulson captured two trophies at Thompson Manitoba on April 3 4 5 during the North of 53 Centennial tournament They defeated Snow Lake 7 6 Thompsons A 8 0 and Flin Flon's A 9 2 in group play then beat Snow Lake 9 0 on the B side to claim the top honours Wayne Ramsey earned most valuable player and top scorer with nine goals Others scoring included James McLeod Don Genung Billy McLaren Dale Little two goals each and Wes Coulson Bob Reid two goals distributed among teammates The Oak River contingent received a Centennial Trophy and hockey crests whileSnow Lake took runners up and the North of 53 Trophy remains with the northern district participants Thirty one spectators joined in Thompson hospitality and thanks were extended to local residents for the welcome

Oak Hill 4-H Beef Calf Club Holds April Meeting
The Oak ner 4H Beef Calf Club met April 6 at the Hazlewood home with 12 members. A whistle raffle was planned for April 10 at Fraternal Hall and a slide show on Italy by Mr. and Mrs. Rankin was set for April 19 at Chumah Hall 8:00 p.m. June 13 was named as a potential Achievement Day. Exchange trips with the Alberta Club were discussed. Speeches included Ron Knight on Hunter Safety Ian Anderson on Jack Minor Ross Grey on Baseball Brent Hazlewood on Comets. The April 10 whist drive was successful. winners were Mrs P Lukianchuk and H Smith with consolation prizes to Vic ki Cumming and Leulie Shear down. Don Brown held the winning raffle ticket for $30.

A April 10 housewarming for Bob and Lynne Hopley drew over forty friends and relatives from Oak River and nearby towns. Guests received a crystal bowl and gifts for the children from Winnipeg Brandon and Rivers organizers, with a poem, a cake replica, artwork, and a buffet to close the evening.

Group 1 leader Mrs. Marlene Andrew led worship with hymn 405, scripture read by Bernice Lewis, and prayers. Janie Lewis presented two readiness talks, Hazel Mitchell spoke on laundry and soap, and a luncheon completed the meeting.

Members photographed. a sing song was requested at Central United Church in Brandon. Debbie Nykoliation spoke on the Winter Fair. a 25 donation to the club council was made. Next meeting May 8 adjourned.
