Crow Abolition Would Harm Manitoba Report
A University of Manitoba study warns that eliminating the Crow Grain Rates could cost Manitoba farmers 25 to 40 million annually in lost income, with up to 90 million in reduced economic activity. The 140-page report, tabled in the Legislature, analyzes four rate scenarios from 1978 prices, showing net farm incomes and production shifts across 19 commodities in 12 districts and naming key figures from Manitoba Pool Elevators, CP Rail, and the Prairie Rail Action Committee. Copies are available from the Transportation Division, Department of Highways and Transportation in Winnipeg.
