A landau carrying President Theodore Roosevelt Gouvernor Murray Crane and others was struck by a trolley car in Pittsfield Massachusetts around 10 AM. He led the Central States Water Works Association as President in 1892 and remained active in public affairs, noted for energy and character.

Fire Threatens Liberty Indiana Firefighters Rally to Save Town
A blaze in Liberty Indiana started in Oldick's furniture show window and spread to a drug store and other buildings. The fire threatened the town until Liberty's fire department, aided by nearby units from Hamilton and Indianapolis, brought it under control. Firefighters responded quickly after an alarm and contained the flames by three o clock, preventing greater destruction.
