Local boy creates Hamlet troupe amid family squabbles
A youth named Gurley forms a theater company with three boys and a hostler to stage Hamlet, offering the hired girl as the ghost for fifty cents a night. His comic schemes lead to quarrels, potatoes, and threats as the family tries to manage the improvised troupe. The piece blends antics with a broader note on public school funding debates in New York.
