New German Language Push Includes Teacher Appointments

Superintendent Joyce reported that more students in public and high schools study German, with about 40 in elementary and 260 in high school. Three new teachers were appointed Elizabeth Wallace Rachel Shintle and Kate Van Winkle. The Central High School will close Friday for teachers’ annual meeting in Columbus. a state teachers’ union will be formed. A deed for Lot 11996 in Hast Hamilton was accepted for recording. The sinking fund shows 26,085.87 and 3,601.57. Miss Melan Clark, returning as a teacher, was deemed not pension exempt. Heating system at Lincoln School deemed adequate. Architects Metter and Packard proposed plans for the new high school. bids to be opened in January with the building committee and board.

Stolen bicycle recovered from a Western Union messenger

The bicycle of Dale Bennett, a Western Union telegraph messenger, was recovered Saturday evening. A woman, identified by a boy, turned in the bike to the authorities after it was taken. Police noted the bicycle had been stolen for about six weeks.
