President Hoover Makes Flying Stop At Oxford

President Hoover halted during rout to Indianapolis at Oxford’s Balindra and Ohia station, greeted by a large crowd. Kiwanis arranged the stop. Miami University and local groups coordinated class dismissals and a band welcome. Miami Students For Repeal at Miami University election

A Miami University poll by The Miami Student shows President Fao ver leading with 915 of 3,450 votes, Roosevelt 414, Norman Thomas 123, with 2,200 students reached. On prohibition, 767 favor abolishment versus 642 No. eighteen percent say their parents’ party alignments differ from 1928.

Fire at Beta Pi house touches Oxford crews

The report notes a small fire at the Beta Theta Pi chapter house at High Street and Campus Avenue around 5:30 last evening, causing minor damage. Harry Freeman of the Buffalo municipal research bureau and Mrs. Freeman with William Cotton, city manager of St. Petersburg, were in Oxford visiting friends. Freeman and Cotton are former Miami University students attending a city managers’ convention in Cincinnati. Dr. Thomas A. Munna and Dr. H. A. Moore were in Conneraville, Indiana for a union district medical meeting yesterday.
